UPDATE: 2021 23 & UNDER STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – 12PM SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY

Published Sat 13 Feb 2021

With the current weather and its predicted forecast for the Greater Sydney Region, Softball NSW wishes to advise that the potential recommencement of the 2021 23 & Under State Championships is still under review.

It is our intention that games still proceed, and to give our athletes and officials the opportunity to compete for the State Championship. It is, however, imperative that we do this in the safest and most practical manner possible, and logistics are still being finalised (pending further rain).

We can confirm that Blacktown International Sportspark (BISP) will not be playable for the Championships for the remainder of the weekend (both Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 2021). The deluge received at the facility has been significant and unrelenting.

With the awareness of wet weather forecast for this weekend, Softball NSW has been in discussions with a number of our Associations to assist in providing backup venues should BISP be unplayable. With the weather impacting differently across all of these locations, we are continuing discussions regarding the possible relocation of these Championships for Sunday 14 February.

Another update for the 23 & Under State Championships will be provided to all Affiliates and Team Managers by 5:00pm today.
