Community Advice - Softball NSW CEO Resignation

Published Wed 02 Feb 2022

After almost two and a half years of service to Softball NSW, Daniel Rushworth has announced his resignation as CEO of the organisation.

The Softball NSW Board wishes to thank Daniel for his service as CEO during what has been one of the most challenging times the sport and organisation has faced in its 75-year history.

Daniel has skilfully navigated the challenges to our sport posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that Softball NSW will emerge from this period in a stronger position than ever before – a significant achievement in the face of the extent of the disruption caused by the pandemic. Throughout his time with Softball NSW, Daniel has proven himself to be an effective sporting administrator and supportive leader to both the staff and the community. He has been central to the development and execution of the Softball NSW 2021-2024 Strategic Plan, reconstructed the internal operations and management of the staff and services as well as provided analysis and resolution to community challenges. Throughout his time in the role of CEO, our membership has come to know Daniel as a person of integrity and passion for growing and driving the sport of Softball into the future. His passion will continue notwithstanding the fact that Daniel is moving on to new opportunities in his professional life.

An excerpt from Daniel on his resignation: “I have valued and appreciated the opportunity to lead, develop and shape the future of the sport and organisation across all levels and I look forward to seeing Softball progress as we know it can. Working for Softball NSW and the greater Softball community is something that I have loved, and it allowed me to combine my passions for sport and organisational development I have always felt extremely lucky to be in this position. Particularly to Chris, I thank you for our relationship and partnership as CEO and President as this has been exceptional throughout and something I will always look back fondly on. I would also like to thank the Board, Staff, and the rest of the Softball community for their ongoing support and understanding through this process.”

Daniel will continue in his role as CEO until 7 March 2022, during which time Softball NSW President Chris Hall will work with Daniel in a transitional phase before taking over as Interim CEO, while the Board conducts a public recruitment process for the next permanent CEO. The details of the CEO recruitment process will be announced in the coming days on Softball NSW's website. The Board, Daniel and Softball NSW staff will be working together throughout this transitional period to ensure that the organisation continues to deliver for its membership and the sport as a whole.

Softball NSW would like to thank Daniel for his dedication to the organisation during his tenure as CEO and wish him all the best as he moves on to the next phase of his career.
