CATHY KERR CALLS TIME AT SOFTBALL NSW

Published Mon 23 Nov 2020

After 31 years of exemplary service, our Operations and Events Manager Cathy Kerr has advised the Board and I that she will be departing Softball NSW in the coming weeks.

Cathy’s journey with Softball NSW commenced back in 1989 as the Administration Officer and through significant effort and unrivalled dedication progressed through the ranks in covering any and all roles asked of her inclusive of the General Manager role.

Throughout Cathy’s time at Softball NSW, she has witnessed the extreme highs and lows that sport administration continually offers its servants from assisting with the delivery of the Olympics at Sydney 2000, countless international/state events and the innovative Summer Slam. Across this time, she and has been a constant, reliable oracle that the Softball NSW community could lean on at a moment’s notice.

Whilst the staff and I are saddened by Cathy’s decision to depart Softball NSW, she does so with our understanding, support and appreciation. Cathy’s legacy at Softball NSW will no doubt be the connectivity and leadership across the various segments of our sport and organisation. We know that she will take with her a lifetime of memories and friendships that our sport creates and community embodies.

Cathy has continuously led, educated and empowered all levels of our community, from grassroots through to the very elite. Cathy’s guidance and leadership of our Affiliates, Volunteers, Membership, Staff and the overall sport is always firmly focused on creating opportunities and driving best practice to benefit the sport and its participants. Cathy has and continues to show the organisation a level of dedication that reaches far beyond what she was required to do without recognition or fanfare. This quiet achiever has delivered time and time again both on and off the diamond and is sure to continue up until the last moment in the coming weeks. I am sure without any hesitation the community are absolutely appreciative for her distinguished service and relentless efforts in driving the sport forward.

It is obvious that Cathy has been an outstanding stalwart for the organisation that continuously gave to ensure that all levels of the sport succeeded. On behalf of the organisation, the Board, the Members, the Staff, the Sport and myself personally, I would like to thank Cathy for all that she has contributed to our sport, and we wish her every success in the future.

Softball NSW President Chris Hall added “On behalf of the Board of Softball NSW, we thank Cathy for the tremendous dedication she has shown our sport for the past 31 years. Cathy has said, ‘it’s time’, and although it is a huge loss to our sport – we respect Cathy’s decision. Cathy has been a true leader; a problem solver and she has been above all an integral pillar of our sport. The Board fully endorses the statements made by our CEO, Daniel Rushworth, in respect to Cathy. Thank you, Cathy, for your unwavering support and your solid commitment to our sport, we wish you nothing but the best and we certainly hope to see you around the Diamonds.”

Cathy will finish unfortunately with Softball NSW on Sunday, December 6th.

Thanks again for your dedication and service Cathy

Sincerely,

Daniel Rushworth

Chief Executive Officer
