2024 Under 12 State Championships - Preview

Following on from a fantastic Blacktown Junior International Challenge and the Easter long weekend, state championship softball returns this weekend with Softball Campbelltown hosting the 2024 Under 12 State Championships. This year's Under 12 State Championships will feature thirteen teams from across the state setting the stage for an action - packed weekend of softball. Softball NSW has also introduced the State Cup to the championship weekend providing development opportunities for our youngest softballers featuring three NSW teams and an invitational team from Canberra. 

The following teams will compete in this year's Under 12 State Championships and State Cup: 

Boys/Mixed - Campbelltown, Cumberland Nepean, Georges River, Macarthur, Manly Warringah, Penrith City & Southern Districts 

Girls - Cumberland Nepean, Georges River, Manly Warringah, North Shore, Orange & Penrith City 

State Cup - Canberra Pride, Hornsby, Newcastle/Wagga Wagga & Orange

What Happened Last Year? 

Champions - Boys/Mixed 

Champions - Girls 

Softball NSW and Orange & District Softball Association hosted the 2023 Under 12 State Championships with fourteen teams from across the state featuring in both the Boys/Mixed & Girls competitions respectively. The state championship was a great success with fun across the diamonds, despite the weather interruptions on Day 1 the weather turned in our favour to bring action - packed softball on Day 2. Both championships were tightly contested with our brightest softballers eager to showcase their skills and talent. The Grand Final for the Under 12 Boys/Mixed featured both Campbelltown & Penrith City played in a thrilling and exciting game of softball with Campbelltown prevailing over Penrith City 7-6. Furthermore, the Girls Grand Final featured rivals Manly Warringah and North Shore with Manly Warringah proving too strong in a shutout performance against North Shore defeating them 9-0. 

Venue Information 

All players, officials, and spectators to park in the allocated carpark. Entry is via Macquarie Road. Additional overflow parking can be found behind the Softball Campbelltown Clubhouse, as well as the Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre (five-minute walk). Please do not park in any areas that specify ‘NO PARKING’ or ‘CLEARWAY’, and do not obstruct any access points and/or residential driveways.

Parking in the carpark is at your own risk. Vehicles are not permitted inside the venue. Please be mindful for security of your personal possessions and do not leave valuables inside your vehicle.

Softball NSW and Campbelltown City Council support a smoke-free policy. Smoking and/or the use of e-cigarettes or vaping is only permitted in the car park areas of the venue. Alcohol is strictly NOT to be brought into the venue.

The Softball Campbelltown canteen will be open throughout the Championship, with both card and cash payments accepted. The BBQ will also be running through the canteen. The full canteen menu will be posted outside the canteen. Please check the specials board inside the canteen for lunch and dinner meals available each day.

The coffee van – Ziggyz Café and Collectibles – will be in operation at the grounds across the weekend, near the Softball Campbelltown Clubhouse (under the awning, in front of the canteen). Both cash and card payments are accepted.

 

Photography & Livestreaming 

Across the event, Softball NSW staff and media volunteers will be on site capturing the event for Softball NSW purposes. In addition, team photos can be taken upon request.

All games on Diamond 1 will be livestreamed across the event. Softball NSW will also endeavour to have commentary for livestreamed games (particularly the Finals); however, this is run by volunteers and cannot always be guaranteed.

First Aid & Physiotherapy 

Our partners The Healthy Body Company will be present at the Championship and can provide injury management, advice, and preventative strapping. The First Aid area will be located in the Softball Campbelltown Clubhouse, under the awning in front of the canteen area.

Merchandise 

Softball NSW merchandise can be purchased via the Softball NSW online store for pick-up at the Championships.

State Championship-specific merchandise will also be available for pre-ordering via the Softball NSW online store from Wednesday 27 March 2024. All orders must be received by Monday 8 April 2024, with expected pick-up/delivery times late May 2024.
