2023 Under 12 State Championships - Preview

After a fantastic Over 45 Women's State Championship, Softball NSW brings you the final State Championship for 2023 this weekend with Orange & Districts Softball Association gearing up to host the 2023 Under 12 State Championships. Held at Sir Jack Brabham Park Orange, the Under 12 State Championships won't disappoint with our amazing young softballers showcasing their talent, setting the stage for an action-packed weekend of softball fun from our players and spectators. The championships will feature six Girls' teams and eight Boys' teams from across the state.

What Happened Last Year? 

Softball NSW and Orange & Districts Softball Association hosted the 2022 Under 12 State Championships with beautiful weather as the backdrop for an action-packed weekend of softball from our eight Boys' teams and seven Girls' teams from across the state. The Under 12 Boys Grand Final featured both Campbelltown and Cumberland Nepean, with both teams brimming with confidence heading into the Grand Final after producing dominant displays of softball across the weekend. The Grand Final was memorable with momentum swings and excellent batting and fielding on display from both teams, Cumberland Nepean set the tone early jumping out to a 2-0 lead before Campbelltown mounted a comeback to prevail in a tight contest over Cumberland Nepean 3-2 to take the honours. Furthermore in the Under 12 Girls Grand Final between Cumberland Nepean & Manly Warringah, both teams looking to capitalise on their momentum from their outstanding performances in the pool stage. The Grand Final was full of excitement and anticipation as the best two teams in the Under 12 Girls State Championship went head to head. In the end, the battle between both teams lived up to the hype with excellent softball on display with Cumberland Nepean edging out Manly Warringah 9-8 in a tight contest to take the honours.

Venue Information 

All players, officials and parents are to park in the allocated carparks(s). Entry to the main carpark is off Forest Road. Additional parking is available at the Soccer fields via Huntley Road; however, a longer walk is required across the park to the Softball diamonds. Please do not park in any areas that specify 'NO PARKING' or 'CLEARWAY', and do not obstruct residential driveways (Council Rangers will be out in force). 

The Orange clubhouse canteen will be open, with both (cash and card payments accepted). There will also be two coffee vans in operation at the grounds with the BBQ running next to the canteen (open each morning by 7:30am). 

ODSA will be running 'return and earn' recycling crates off all waste bins at the fields. Teams and spectators are encouraged to follow the instructions on the bins and recycle bottles and cans as much as possible. 

Please be aware that NO METAL CLEATS are permitted to be worn on the diamonds at Sir Jack Brabham Park. 

First Aid and Medical Treatment 

St John's Ambulance workers in Orange will be present at the Championships and can provide First Aid to all participants and spectators, located next to the Orange clubhouse and canteen.

Photography & Livestream 

Across the weekend, Softball NSW staff and media volunteers will be on site capturing the event for Softball NSW purposes. In addition, team photos can be taken upon request. The team at Instant Photos Australia will also be present on both days capturing images of the players and officials for purchase. Please keep an eye out for their viewing van at the fields (final location will be dependent on weather and ground condition. 

Softball NSW is aiming to livestream all games on Diamond 1 across the weekend. Softball  NSW will also endeavour to have commentary for livestreamed games (particularly the Finals); however, this is run by volunteers and cannot always be guaranteed.
