2023 Under 14 State Championships - Preview

After a short break, State Championship action returns this weekend with Newcastle & District Softball Association gearing up to host the 2023 Under 14 State Championships. Held at Stevenson Park Mayfield West, the Under 14 State Championships will showcase the brightest talent within this age category, setting the stage for a fantastic weekend of competitive softball. The championships will feature eleven girls' teams and seven boys' teams. 

The following teams will be competing in this year's tournament.

What Happened Last Year? 

Softball NSW hosted the 2022 Under 14 State Championships, across two venues with the 2022 Under 14 Boys Championship hosted by Cumberland Nepean Softball Association at International Peace Park featuring seven teams. Furthermore, the 2022 Under 14 Girls State Championship was hosted by Southern Districts Softball Association at Jacquie Osmond Reserve featuring eight teams. The Under 14 Boys Grand Final featured both Macarthur and Southern Districts, with Macarthur prevailing 3-2 over Southern Districts in a thrilling game of softball to take the honours. Moreover, the Under 14 Girls Grand Final featured Manly Warringah and Cumberland Nepean, both teams brimming with confidence after producing excellent softball throughout the tournament. The Grand Final was a tight and competitive game of softball with Manly Warringah taking the honours over Cumberland Nepean 3-2.

Venue Information 

All players, officials and spectators are requested to park in the allocated carpark. Entry to the carpark is off Industrial Drive (westbound only), with additional parking also available along the surrounding streets. Gates will be open two hours prior to the first game commencing across both Saturday and Sunday. 

Newcastle & District Softball Association will have a double canteen open across the weekend, with both (cash and card payments accepted). There will also be a coffee van in operation at the grounds, next to the canteen near Diamonds 1 and 2. A pizza van will also be in attendance at the canteen near Diamond 6. 

Please be aware that NO METAL CLEATS are permitted to be worn on the diamonds at Stevenson Park. 

PHOTOGRAPHY & LIVESTREAM 

Throughout the duration of the Under 14 State Championships, Softball NSW staff and media volunteers will be on-site capturing the event for Softball NSW purposes. In addition, team photos can be undertaken per request.

All games on Diamond 1 will be live-streamed across the duration of the tournament. Softball NSW endeavours to have commentary for live-streamed games (particularly the Finals); however, this is run by volunteers and cannot always be guaranteed.
